Investing in our future
From time to time the Somerton Parks and Recreation Commission hosts and participates in fund raising events within the community. The funds raised during these events are reinvested into our community via sponsorship or donation requests made by individuals and community organizations. Do my tax dollars fund donation and sponsorship requests?
No, funds are acquired via the Commissions participation in various events through out the Community. The Somerton Parks and Recreation Commission is a non-city funded group.
How much funds are available yearly for distribution?
Available funds are contingent on the Commissions participation in fundraising events. Monetary funds fluctuate from year to year.

Do I have to live within the city to make a request?
Yes, individuals or organizations who wish to request a donation must at bare minimum meet the following criteria:

Must reside within Somerton City Limits;

Prepare and deliver a brief presentation regarding the request;

Should represent the community in a positive manner and give back to the local community.

Note: Funding requests are approved at the Commissions discretion. Requests for faculty resource usage will be forwarded to the Parks and Recreation Director for final review.
