Remembering our History
Did you know that the City of Somerton celebrated its 100th Birthday on May 27, 2018?
​
On May 27, 1918, the Yuma County Board of Supervisors approved the petition to incorporate The Town of Somerton, and said petition was signed by more than two-thirds of the taxable inhabitants, and more than five hundred inhabitants of the town.

Did you know that in 2015 the City of Somerton was one of three cities in the state to ban smoking in all its city parks?
Resolution 2015-11 made all Somerton City Parks and open spaces used by children Tobacco-Free Zones. This resolution was championed by the Yuma County Youth Anti-Tobacco Coalition.

Did you know that the City of Somerton participates in the Arizona Game and Fish Departments Community Fishing Water Program?
The Council Avenue Park Pond is stocked periodically with various fish types throughout the year. Keep an eye on the Fish Stocking Schedule for the types of fish being stocked.
